Old Mill Junior Girl Scout Troop 2593
These Girls rock!
Bravo to the Junior Girl Scout Troop 2593 who meet in the Old Mill Road School twice a month in Merrick! rock CAN roll founder, Aimée Holtzman, met the Troop to talk about
hunger and poverty here on Long Island. With the help of their team of leaders, Jeanne Schnell, Lori D’Antonio , Lisa Johnson and Liann Levy, they came up with some terrific ideas to help our neighbours in need! The girls were moved by the horrible fire that destroyed The Hope for the Future Facility, and teamed up with rCr to help Pastor Diane. Aimée is always happy to meet with students, with only one condition…that they each bring 1 healthy and nutritious non-perishable food items. The troop, made up of 17 girls went above and beyond and to everyones delight, they brought in 90 food items. The girls requested that food be delivered to Hope for the Future, and it was.
Another project the scouts plan to implement, is to fill up their rock CAN roll tote bags with food items for each meeting! They will keep track of their project throughout the rest of the year! Although these girls are only 10 years old, they are making a difference! Aimée said ” .. With kids like this leading the way I am happy to report the future is in good hands. Thanks girls…you rock!”
