Gregg Allman supporting rock CAN roll!

As 2008 winds down, rock CAN roll still forges ahead in our quest to ‘beat hunger’!

We are so appreciative of the support we have received from rock legends and icons like Gregg Allman (his band and management).
Thank you for being a friend to rock CAN roll Gregg.
The rCr Tote Bags Gregg autographed at last evenings show, will help rCr be a stronger voice and advocate for the too many men, women and children who worry about IF, WHEN or HOW they will be able to eat.

Carrying a rock CAN roll tote bag helps to raise awareness about hunger and poverty, issues people often choose to ignore.

rock CAN roll on TV!

Greetings!
I hope you all had a lovely holiday and are looking forward to a new year of good friends, good times, good health and peace!

Tonight is the last chance to catch our Television Debut! rCr board member, Andrew Hazen joins me on ‘REAL FOOD’ with Father Jim Vlaun! It is a great episode, highlighting our vision for the future and the good work the rock CAN roll organization CAN DO!

rCr Board Member, Andrew Hazen, rCr Founder Aimée Holtzman, Father Jim Vlaun and Chef Roland Iadanza

We were in awe of Chef, Mr. Roland Iadanza, from Pasta People. His recipes were FANTASTIC! It’s too bad no one has figured out how to send incredible aromas to viewers at home!

Check it out, on Long Island, Channel 29 at 9:30pm.
If you do not have Cablevision, do not worry! They
broadcast the station live over the Internet as well.
You can watch the program by going to
Telecare’s main website at
www.telecaretv.org (at 9:30p ) and
clicking on the “Watch Telecare LIVE” button located below the video player window.

Thanks to all at Telecare, for “getting it”!
You rock!

John Edward supports rock CAN roll

Greetings Friends!
We have wonderful news…John Edward has asked his fans to bring a healthy and nutritious non-perishable food item to his 6 SOLD OUT events at the Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury this week!

The venue holds close to 2800 people….imagine if 500 people each night bring 1 food item!
WOW! That would certainly help our neighbours who have fallen on hard times, worried about how to put food on their table.
Check this out!

Many thanks in advance!
In peace…

Robins Lane ‘Early Act Club’ …these kids rock!

I met with the greatest group of kids today! These kids are in the ‘Early Act Club’ at Robins Lane School in Syosset! They each took a rock CAN roll tote bag on the the condition, that at each upcoming meeting, they will all bring 1 healthy and nutritious non-perishable food item to each meeting. They meet once a week…there are about 40 5th graders in the club.

I can’t wait to see how much food is collected at the end of the year!

These kids rock! They are setting an example for other Early Act Clubs to follow! It is heartwarming to know that with kids like this leading the way..the future is being left in good hands!

In peace..

Ellis…you rock!

Many thanks to Ellis HeniCAN at Newsday! He included a great piece about our work and gave a shout out to some of the amazing volunteers who make up rock CAN roll!

Many thanks to the staff and management at The Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury, and all the concert goers who continually remember those less fortunate! Attending a show there? PLEASE bring 1 healthy and nutritious food donation!

Ms. Lauren Hoffman: Her Bat Mizvah, 11.19.08 – check out these center pieces she and her family made! Over 250 food items were delivered to a local food pantry!

Jericho Schools: Middle School and High School!
There were 2 concerts Nov 17 and 19. Tri-M, The Music Honor Society collected 190 food items. The week of November 17-21 The HS/MS collected over 500 food items!

So many CANS to count! It was just great!

So many CANS to count! It was just great!

So many boxes to carry!

The Cantiague School of Jericho (grade school) collected over 250 food items too!

You can do the math….Thanks to all in Jericho for continuing to support our efforts to put in the hands of people who need it…you rock!

Some other things that Ellis was not able to include in his article …
*Jazzercise rocks! Through January, Long Island Jazzercise location are accepting healthy and nutritious food donations for rCr.* You will be in awe to know (as I am whenever I talk about this…) that (developmentally disabled) volunteers from ACLD and AHRC go out to pick up the food, count it and deliver it to local food pantries!

The week before, we were able to give over 1700 bottles of water to
the homeless. This is most important for 2 reasons. First, water is not readily
available to those who live on the streets…and these people tend to be
dehydrated. Second, the bottle is valuable, because it can be reused.

Water donated from COSTCO!

PUSH PLAY CD Release Party!

Great News! Push Play is teaming up with rock CAN roll to “BEAT HUNGER” at their CD Release Party, Nov 28 at the Patchogue Theatre! Are you coming out to this event? If so…Please, bring a healthy and nutritious non-perishable food donation! Now more than ever our help is needed to restock the empty shelves of local food pantries! Sadly, there are more people in need of assistance. Worse than that, donations are down! These agencies that work so hard to provide food for people who need it are in dire straights! Now more than ever our help is needed!

Let’s not let those who live with hunger and in poverty continue to feel “Deserted”!

Place your concert tickets in your cupboard at home, so you won’t forget to bring a donation to the show! Enjoy!

On behalf of those who will have food to eat due to your support of our efforts…I thank you…you rock!
