Thanks to the TAL program at the Mid Island Y in Plainview NY!
They put together a Cabaret Show this past summer – that rock’d the house and raised over $700 for the rock CAN roll organization!
The event was the brainchild of Benjamin Holtzman who, along with Sara Rotter, and
a some of Long Islands most talented teen performers put on an amazing show!

Saturday, we collaborated with The Craigslist Foundation at their Tri-State 2008 Non-Profit Boot Camp at NYU in the city! 1000+ people showed up, food was collected with the help from our team…Jeff, David, Perry, Leslie, Caitlin , Judy and Clarence from UPS!

This afternoon, rCr Board Member, Andrew Hazen joined me at a taping of ‘Real Food’ with Father Jim Vlaun at Telecare! It was great! Father Jim cooked with a chef (I don’t want to spoil the surprise for you when it airs 
I am always delighted to speak at meetings, or schools, and now even on television. The only request I have, is that any event we partake in, that all associated with the event, bring me a healthy and nutritious food donation that we can deliver to a local emergency food agency.
Thanks to the staff at telecare for the food they brought in today…it really does make a difference! You rock!

Yesterday I had the honour of meeting Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5!
They are alumni of FRENCH WOODS Festival of the Performing Arts Camp 
and were revisiting their childhood memories as the ROCK SHOP was dedicated to the two former campers. Adam and Jesse were treated to a performance by The Test Dream – founding member Alex “Fuzzy” Holtzman, is also a French Wood Alum! Maroon 5 was digging their performance!

It was an honour to meet Adam and Jesse! It was a great opportunity to tell them about rock CAN roll and the wonderful volunteers that are working so hard to put food into the hands of men, women and children who live with hunger and in poverty.

Saturday – August 16 –Craigslist Foundation has teamed up with rock CAN roll for their 2008 New York Tri-State Area Nonprofit Boot Camp
With the generous help from UPS, we will be on site accepting and delivering food donations! Last year, we collected and delivered over 1000lbs of food!

Since our last post – with the help of so many good people…GREAT things have happened!
Since February 2007, the rock CAN roll organization has procured and delivered over 27,000 food items to emergency food agencies and onto the plates of men, women and children who needed them.
A great accomplishment…but there is still much work to be done!

Allie found us on the internet. She wanted to do something that would focus on the “Mitzvah” as she was becoming a Bat Mitzvah.
With each invitation, she included the following note…
The day of her party, this is what they collected!
Bravo to Allie! This girl rocks!
Her mom sent the following note…
“Allie did a great job. I was really proud of her. We had a great turn out of food 110 cans of food. We donated to Yad Ezra.
They are able to swap non – kosher food with gleaners food bank and in return they get fruits and vegetables.”
Thanks again to Allie for leading the way,showing the world how easy it is to include rock CAN roll!

Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking to a group of teens from the ‘Seeds of Change’ program, run by the ‘amazing’ Ms. Kelly Vest. The kids have taken rock CAN roll on as a project through out this years program. At each meeting through the end of May 08, they will bring 1 non perishable food donation and tally up their year long collection.
These kids are so enthusiastic, as you can see…they made posters and signs to decorate their collection bin…

So…they made their signs, decorated the bin, and asked everyone at the Suffolk Y to support their ‘kick off’ efforts to donate food to people who need it.
ACLD (a developmentally disabled adult program) volunteers picked up and delivered a total of 528 lbs of food! Amazing, eh!
